Vent-Axia Provides Low Energy Ventilation for Bovis Homes

Vent-Axia has teamed up with Bovis Homes to provide its Lo-Carbon™ Sentinel Kinetic mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) units for two new homes at their York Gate development in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.

Selected for its high efficiency, Vent-Axia’s Sentinel Kinetic will provide residents with excellent indoor air quality while minimising domestic energy costs and contributing to national reductions in energy consumption and greenhouse emissions.

Vent-Axia has been chosen as the preferred supplier for MVHR at this attractive new development at York Gate on the outskirts of Tewkesbury, The two three-bedroom, three storey townhouses built by Bovis Homes have been designed to meet Level 3 and 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. Each property features Vent-Axia’s Sentinel Kinetic MVHR system, which has been installed to serve the kitchen and wet room facilities. Ideal for installation in increasingly air-tight homes, the Sentinel Kinetic complies with the latest Building Regulations Document F 2010 for wholehouse ventilation, System 4. The system is capable of 90% heat recovery which will be significant in helping reduce the dwelling emission rating (DER) of Bovis Homes’ properties.

A whole house, multi-room ducted solution, the Sentinel Kinetic combines supply and extract ventilation in one unit. Warm, moist air is extracted from ‘wet’ rooms through ducting and passed through the heat exchanger before being exhausted to the outside. Fresh incoming air is preheated via the integral heat exchanger which recovers up to 90% of the heat energy that would otherwise be wasted. The unit’s energy saving Vent-Axia Lo-Carbon™ DC motors further improve its efficiency and carbon reducing capabilities.

Vent-Axia’s Sentinel Kinetic offers residents energy efficient ventilation while lowering fuel bills and scoring highly in a home’s energy performance rating. Plus, the heat recovery ventilation will reduce excessive air moisture, combating condensation and mould growth, saving money on maintenance and decoration in the long and short-term. By specifying the Sentinel Kinetic system for this project, Bovis Homes will ensure residents enjoy better indoor air quality through reduced fungal growth and reduced dust mites, which have been linked to allergies and asthma.

With the Sentinel Kinetic range the exact ventilation rate can be set on the LCD display at normal and boost speeds, supply and extract, to match the volume of the property, while a ‘delay-on-timer’ prevents unnecessary boosting and a ‘delay-off timer’ ensures effective moisture removal. The range’s operation is then further enhanced by a range of internal and external, plug and play control and sensor options which can account for changes in humidity, air quality, PIR (Passive Infra Red), CO2 and temperature. Featuring programmable Summer Bypass, the Sentinel Kinetic range’s operating temperature settings can be pre-programmed for automatic operation of the Summer Bypass, providing free summer cooling.

Manufactured in the UK, the Sentinel Kinetic is part of the Vent-Axia Lo-Carbon™ collection of energy saving ventilation solutions. The aim of the Lo-Carbon™ initiative is to offer the latest low carbon ventilation technology in order to reduce building energy consumption and so carbon emissions.

Vent-Axia was chosen for the Bovis Homes development at York Gate as an effective and energy efficient solution that would be easy to install. Installation of the Sentinel Kinetic MVHR system should enable us to improve the indoor air quality of the homes whilst also helping to reduce the carbon emissions, and keep the fuel bills down.
