Vent-Axia products are all CE marked. This indicates that we conform to all relevant European Directives. In particular EC legislation 89/336/EEC (mandatory since 1996) and the Low Voltage Directive 73/23/EEC (mandatory since 1997).

Motors

Vent-Axia motors will not interfere with radio or television reception. Our motors are quiet running and continuously rated. All motors are fitted either with thermal overload protection or are impedance protected. On T-Series in-line models resetting is operated by isolating the supply.

220-240V motors are designed for use with all compatible European single-phase supplies. T-Series and domestic models are fitted with long life ball bearing motors.

Vent-Axia Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) motors are designed for use in the splash area of a bath or shower. The matching supply transformer is remotely located outside the splash area - usually outside the bathroom.

Vent-Axia LoWatt fans feature the latest in DC motor technology. Depending on size, an energy saving of at least 80% over AC motors can be expected. DC motor life is considerably extended, typically more than five times longer on domestic fans and twice as long on commercial products. Vent-Axia LoWatt fans run at Safety Extra Low Voltages, and can safely be used in splash area environments when the supply transformer is remotely mounted.

Approvals

Vent-Axia units are designed and manufactured to comply with demanding international and harmonised standards. There are Vent-Axia models available to meet the specific requirements of the following approval bodies:

Vent-Axia Limited is certified by the British Standards Institution to BS EN ISO 9001 Cert. No. F1792QAS No. 3284/37.

'Keymark' indicates that the product has been tested by an independent authority and has been shown to be in compliance with Harmonised European Safety Standards. This single mark will be accepted in all European Countries and will, in due course, supersede the existing national marks.

Performance

The Vent-Axia test laboratory is BEAB accredited (BS45001) to perform supervised manufacturers testing. Performance testing is carried out in a balanced chamber test duct to ISO 5801, 1997 (BS848: Part 1). This has a booster fan to overcome system resistance.

The volume flow is measured by a pressure difference across a calibrated orifice plate or conical entry. An adjustable damper provides a variable resistance to the test fan enabling its performance characteristics to be measured. The rated figures given are at free air performance.

Performance figures shown in this manual assume 230V/1/50Hz supply. Performance figures for 220V/1/50Hz supply will be slightly lower.
